Getting Started

Hiking is fun, affordable, and an easy activity to get involved in. Follow these tips for the best experience possible:

  • Before you hit the trail, make sure you’re capable of traveling the entire distance of the trail you’re planning to tackle.
  • While many trails are clearly marked, it’s still important to check a map before you head out so you’re confident about your route.
  • If you’re planning on doing some hiking in Florida State Parks, State Forests, Wildlife Management Areas, National Federal Lands, and Eglin Air Force Base, make sure you have the necessary permits.

There’s nothing better than being out in the fresh air, getting some exercise, and seeing the outdoors in a whole new way. So, go take a hike!
