About Us

Nestled within the J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area, a historically recognized section that once marked the northern extent of the Everglades ecosystem before Florida's urban expansion, stands the Everglades Youth Conservation Center (EYCC). While our half-day field trips are freely available, we strongly recommend for schools to consider the transformative potential of our immersive overnight field trip experience. Discover the array of current programs we offer below, showcasing our unwavering commitment to environmental education.

Program Offerings

Wetland Wonders (Grades 4th – 12th)

Students will discover the importance of wetlands in south Florida for wildlife and humans. This experience includes activities about our Kissimmee – Okeechobee – Everglades watershed and dip netting in our freshwater pond. (Water quality testing is included in the program upon request for grades 6th – 8th).

Bird’s Eye View (Grades 4th – 5th)

Students will explore the world of adaptation through studying birds and how Florida's ecosystems have influenced their physical and behavioral characteristics. The program also includes exploration of human impacts through the great migration challenge. All students will get to observe birds in the field through the bird behavior scavenger hunt.

Dynamics of The Everglades (Grades 6th – 12th)

Due to construction on the hiking trail, we are unable to offer this program but expect it to be available again within Fall 2024 – Spring 2025. For this program, students will collect data while hiking to determine the diversity of organisms in various ecosystems to discover what factors influence the populations of plants and animals in the area.

Overnight Field Trip Experience (Grades 4th – 12th)

Experience EYCC's captivating adventure: a night hike, engaging presentations on local history, wetland exploration, marsh hikes, educational activities, wildlife encounters, interactive sessions, outdoor recreation, and a memorable campfire night. Discover the wilderness in a unique, educational way.
